As a treasure place of beauty and richness in west China, Xinjiang is the largest province with the longest terrestrial border line bordering on most countries in China. Endowed with advantaged resources of water, soil, light and heat, abundance of mineral resources and unique tourist resources, Xinjiang is a key region for the West Development, and a bridgehead and important door opening to the west with her predominant geographical advantages.

Xinjiang is a multi-ethnic province with a total population 20.95 million consisting of 47 ethnic groups including 13 native ethnic groups. All ethnic groups have been living here in amity for thousands and hundreds of years; they created together the characteristic ethnic cultures and have been upholding the stability of border area and the unification of the state. In particular, after the implementation of reform and opening to the outside world as well as the West Development strategy, all ethnic groups in Xinjiang unite as one and strive for the co-prosperity under the support of central government and other provinces. With great socioeconomic achievement, Xinjiang saw stupendous changes in urban and suburb areas, and her people are enjoying a greatly-improved life. The new-style socialism relation of ethnic groups is consolidated based on equality, comity, mutual help and harmony. Today’s Xinjiang is stable and flourishing with good governance and harmonious people living and working in peace and contentment.
