Largest Water-Saving Irrigation Base
Till now the land area using new and high-tech water saving irrigation means in XJ Production and Construction Corp has increased to 8.3 mln mu, which becomes the largest water-saving irrigation base in China.
XJPCC is a main commodity cotton base in China, while under-film dripping irrigation and other new and high water-saving irrigation techniques provide important scientific support for its cotton planting. In 2007, the total output of cotton in XJPCC topped 1.25 mln tons, accounting for nearly 1/6 of the national total. In the reclamation areas of Shihezi, Korla, and Tarim Basin, over 95% of the cotton field has adopted water-saving irrigation.
