Olympic Torch Relay To Start On June 17th


Reporters leanred from the press conference of Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay in XJ that, from June 17th, the Beijing Olympic flame will start journey with passion and love in XJ and pass through Urumqi, Kashgar, Shihezi and Changji. 624 torch bearers will participate in the relay, among them, 45% are ethnic minorities.
Among the 624 torch bearers, there are not only domestic celebrities, Hong Kong compatriots, but also foreigners from USA, Germany and some other countries and regions. They come from all circles of society inclusive of workers, farmers, owners of private enterprises, intellectuals and public servants.
The first torch bear in XJ is Abuduxiku'er Mijiti- a famous Uygur boxer in XJ. And the last one in Urumqi is Wang Yanhong- a famous disabled archery athlete in XJ.
